It's time to ban staffies?
I found myself in the middle of a life-or-death struggle in the street, when my little dog (a border terrier) was bitten on the throat area and held by a staffie, which did not let go for about 30 seconds until I had punched it 3-4 times in the face. Between us its owner and I kept it from attacking again. The vet said the bite was deep and extensive but luckily an inch from the carotid artery, which supplies blood to the brain.
The owner was very apologetic and said the staffie had not given any cause for concern before, which is why he let it approach my dog. He accepted my dog had been entirely unprovocative. He has two children and so he's going to return it to the RSPCA rescue centre where he got it.
I know that staffie owners complain that their dogs don't deserve a bad press, but unfortunately the rescue centres are full of them, and perhaps it's time they joined the list of banned breeds

Re: It's time to ban staffies?
Where do u stop though chig? Most staffs I've come across are the most soppiest of all breeds. It's all down to the owners whatever the breed. Next sat we gladly be collecting another rescue dog from Serbia, scruffy little mongrel but had a shit 1st 4months of its life. Anyway, your border needs to toughen up, my old jack ripped the balls off two Alsatians that attacked him.. Screaming and blood everywhere, the owner in shock (wanker) opened mouthed that my lil Ben come out of the ruck wagging its tail with bits of u know wat hanging from its gob! Dogs wiv shit owners are bullies, the dogs become bullies, owners kids become bullies.. U follow the logic? Until someone bites back!!

You never hear of cats mauling people

My sister has got a nice scar on her eyelid (was about 7 or 8 at the time) where she had 2 stitches after our old cat was asleep on her bed... awoke with a startle and stuck his claw right through my sisters eyelid and scratched her eye to fuck... me and my mum heard her scream and found a cat caught in my sisters eye frantically trying to get out... proper messy it was

nice one. this one who comes here talks to me, sometimes meows for about ten seconds when he's really happy. funny fucker he is, my dog's not keen but he's too old now to chase it anyway so the cat winds him up

I think that's less because of unofficial breeders and more to do with new owners finding out you can't just feed a dog on cheese-strings and skunk-weed.

I've recommended a few times but the documentary called 'The Champions' is well worth watching. it's on Netflix and is about the bill terriers rescued from Michael Vick's mansion who was using the dogs for fighting. really is a good film and shows even dogs that have gone through the worst of times can be rehabilitated

Re: It's time to ban staffies?
Problem is, because of unofficial breeders trying to earn a quick buck, there are so many Staffies out there.

Goto any rescue centre and you're guaranteed to see some, it's heartbreaking !

Re: It's time to ban staffies?
like i said before and what you've just said in the post, cunts buying dogs for status symbols/protection/an extention of their cocks. most of these cunts i wouldn't trust looking after a goldfish let alone an intelligent, loyal companion like a dog

I've never owned a bull terrier, always yorkies/patterdale's/golder retriever/and now a westie, but I've been around enough especially in my family and know they're a lovely breed and no more vicious than a pug. obviously they have more power than most other dogs and that's why these wannabe gangster cunts stroll around with one on their arm

Re: It's time to ban staffies?
I'm not calling any of you Staffie owners shitters (far from it) but I'd say there are more people who buy these kind of dogs because they feel at risk walking around in public or want to appear aggressive and fighty than with most other breeds. Where I live there's a certain kind of owner. Mainly dumb-looking oiks in hoodies. The kind of idiot you wouldn't trust to look after a fucking goldfish let alone 10 stone of fighting dog.

So you've got a jumpy cunt with a chip on his shoulder giving off all kinds of vibes that a potentially dangerous dog with a keen instinct interprets as 'my owner is in imminent danger'. That's a volatile mix no matter how well the dog normally behaves.

I'd say that's pretty obvious, and the fact that most of the people on here who own those dogs are a bit more chilled and in some rare cases even civilised so can't reconcile the fact that their lovely dog could get lumped in with a silly bunch of cunts who shouldn't be allowed to keep any kind of animal.

Mistreat a lot of animals and they'll end up biting someone. It's not their fault. The problem is when the kind of people who mistreat animals all seem to have the same breed of dog.

"....And these were the breeds with the highest bite rate (taking into account their actual prevalence in the locality):
Papillon, Brittany spaniel, Kerry blue terrier, Newfoundland, weimaraner and Pekingese.

The dog breeds with the lowest bite rate:
Cavalier King Charles, beagle, bichon frise, Staffordshire bull terrier, samoyed and Pyrenean mountain "

Staff alongside King Charles !!
